Three abortions. I never thought I'd be here, but I have had an abortion every year since the past three years.
I am in a happy stable relationship with my husband whom I met in my teens. We had our marriage and daughter on the timelines that worked for us.
My daughter was conceived right before Covid started. My pregnancy was easy but we got locked down in different cities so it was very scary. Anyway we were able to reunite just before she was born.
After the birth, my physical health plummeted. He and our families were there throughout to support us , but I developed postpartum depression.
I did everything for her and loved her to bits but also felt disconnected and as if I had lost my life. Severe sleep deprivation and bleeding for months made it worse.
Three months after she was born I lost my dad unexpectedly. So the first two years were difficult beyond measure.
Husband became the primary caregiver. I also got into another job which was harder. But finally things fell into place and I worked on myself and became an incredibly loving mom to her. We were finally ourselves.
Four years later I thought of another baby, but not seriously. Anyway, I find out I'm pregnant.
After the initial brush of happiness I began to fall into a deep blackhole. I took the pills, didn't work. Got a surgical one and moved on.
Next year around the same time after a vacation, I find out I'm pregnant again. I knew I couldn't. Got a surgical one done straightaway. Thought I had moved past.
But no, this year same time, I again get pregnant out of nowhere. We were very careful. I'm devastated and considering MTP again.
Usually people share stories and reasons of financial hardships and underage, instability, abusive spouses, unsupportive families. I just want you to know those are not the only reasons.
Sometimes the reason is you protect what you have built so painstakingly. You can be with the person you love, a child who is your whole life and not want to add more.
