Youth Testify

Youth Testify is a collaborative leadership program for young people who’ve had abortions created by Advocates for Youth’s 1 in 3 Campaign and the National Network of Abortion Funds’ We Testify program. Youth Testify provides training and support to equip young people, aged 17-24, with the skills to share their stories with their peers, the media, and legislators, to shift the culture of stigma and center the voices and needs of young people in the fight for abortion access and reproductive justice.

We Testify

We Testify, a program of the National Network of Abortion Funds, seeks to build the power and leadership of abortion storytellers, particularly those of color, those from rural and conservative communities, those who are queer identified, those with varying abilities and citizenship statuses, and those who needed support when navigating barriers while accessing abortion care.

The 1 in 3 Campaign

The 1 in 3 Campaign is a grassroots movement to end the stigma and shame women are made to feel about abortion. As we share our stories we begin to build a culture of compassion, empathy, and support for access to basic health care.

Shout Your Abortion

#ShoutYourAbortion is a decentralized network of individuals talking about abortion on our own terms and creating space for others to do the same. SYA is everywhere: on the sides of buildings, in art and outfits and zines and social media. Abortion is normal. Our stories are ours to tell. This is not a debate.

The Abortion Diary Podcast

The Abortion Diary Podcast is a space for people to speak out against the shame, stigma, secrecy and isolation surrounding abortion by generating, sharing and receiving personal stories. People around the world are able to share their personal stories, and empower others to give testimony about their personal experiences and choices surrounding abortion. These are our personal choices and stories shared by us.

Exhale Pro-voice

Exhale Pro-Voice is an active practice of nonviolent communication that can be learned and experienced. Pro-voice humanizes political conversations, transforms oppression, and creates peace.

My Abortion, My Life

My Abortion, My Life is changing the conversation by creating safe spaces for sharing abortion stories and having nuanced, respectful conversations about abortion experiences. We recognize that the black-and-white rhetoric from both sides of the political debate leaves little room for the complex stories of people’s lives.

Voices of Courage —Physicians For Reproductive Health

Physicians for Reproductive Health Voices of Courage unites the medical community and concerned supporters. Together, we work to improve access to comprehensive reproductive health care, including contraception and abortion, especially to meet the health care needs of economically disadvantaged patients.

Tennessee Stories Project

The Tennessee Stories Project strives to strip away the stigma associated with abortion by lifting up the voices of those who have actually had abortions.

The New Orleans Abortion Fund's OutLoud Project

NOAF’s OutLoud Project is an initiative that seeks to amplify experiences with abortion. From patients who have undergone the procedure to clinic escorts on the frontlines of anti-choice propaganda, abortion stories are everywhere.

Abort Mission

Abort Mission is a stigma-fighting organization that includes the Later Abortion Patients Project.

Later abortions stories are often ones of tragedy and loss. For others they are stories of relief. They feature struggles with hope, women betrayed by their bodies and the incredible complexity of pregnancy. Many stories are ones of overcoming the many obstacles and restrictions our states have placed on these procedures.

Project Voice

Project Voice is a resource of sharing and support that brings together personal stories. Millions of women have abortions, yet many feel secretive and alone in their decision. The more people who share their stories here, the more accurately Project Voice can represent the multiplicities of abortion experiences.
